The school was recognized in 01-01-1936 from Calcutta University as an English High School. The school had been chosen as the Junior Training (J.T.) Centre when it was a junior High School. From 1952 the School had been chosen as the first Matriculation Examination Centre. The school played a vital role as the pioneer of Language movement and the Liberation movement. The institute is used as the only play ground of north Barisal of Gournadi and Agailjhara. Besides these the field of the institution has been using as the venue of local gathering of public, semi public, non-public, political parties and professional organizations. Neverthless, the institution is known as the centres of rehabilitation of flood affected and devastate people. It has been also using as the venue of local government election and national election. During the Second World War “the then 5th Headmaster Captain Harolal Ganguli Bay of Bengal” was the Postmaster General of Undivided Bengal. At that time he was awarded as the Honorary Captain by the British Government. The school stood 6th in Science Group in 1958, 8th and 10th in Commerce Group in 1980 and 10th in Humanities Group in 1981 from Dhaka and Jessore Board Respectably. To build up this institution as an ideal and exceptional on through making good results, adopting the proper methods of teaching in accordance with the curriculum and policy of NCTB’s of Education Board of Barisal and ministry of Education, Bangladesh, Dhaka.
