Kalatia College, Keranigonj, Dhaka is surrounded by green trees and situated in the lap of nature. It is a Degree College affiliated with National University and approved by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Near about 80 years ago, nearby the capital city Dhaka, Kalatia High School was established in an charming environment of nature by the dedication of some benevolent and renowned persons of this locality for the development of education. Since its inception. the institution has been playing an important role in spreading education in Keranigonj. In order to enhance the expansion of education as per the demand of time, the education interested and kind-hearted members of the school governing body, in collaboration with the local well wishers intended to promote the institution from secondary to higher secondary level. Thus Kalatia High School and College was established in 1993 and has been running smoothly with doing satisfactory results in H.S.C level each year. In this tradition, to spread the light of higher education in this area, decision of introducing Degree level was taken by the present governing body. At this aim kalatia college was separated from Kalatia High School and College in 1998 and relocated to its present site with the rename “KALATIA COLLEGE†and from the academic session 1998-99 Degree (Pass) Course was opened in an cheerful atmosphere in the newly constructed building donated by the local enthusiasts. Since then, like H.S.C level the college has been going on with brighter results in Degree level too. The college provides education on Science, Humanities and Business studies group in the H.S.C level and B.A., B.B.S and B.S.S in the Degree level. The institution is run and administered respectively by a group of young, energetic and skilled teachers and wise governing body. Besides following the rules and regulation provided by the Education Board and National University and studying their prescribed syllabus the institution is going on relentlessly with proper education on the Co-curricular activities for psychological and ethical flourishment of the learners. The college possesses a strong cultural squad who, besides performing all national festivals in the campus, participates in various types of cultural programs from union to district level round the year. Besides the college is exceptional for ensuring the following fields:- 1. The administrative net work and accountability system always remain very effective here in obtaining the target for which the college was established. 2. Regular and maximum number of classes are ensured here round the year maintaining a prescribed schedule as per the Govt. holiday list. Besides holding maximum number of class tests, semester examinations are held three times in a year. 3. The college provides maximum amenities for the tranquil educational environment in the green and shadowy premise. Politics of any type, smoking and drugs of any sort are strictly prohibited here. 4. The students are guided in a group by their guide teachers for better preparation. All the students are advised well about everything that they are supposed to do. 5. The students or their guardians are given opportunities to consult with the guide teachers or the Vice-Principal or the Principal of the college any time they wish, either in person or over telephone. 6. A friendly relationship exits among the teachers and the students both on and off the Campus. 7. Progress reports are sent to the guardians after each semester examination allowing them to talk to the Principal regarding the results for the progress of their issues. 8. Guardian-teacher assembly is held sometimes to exchange opinions for the improvement of the learners. 9. A well furnished library enriched with sufficient book of famous writers, a big laboratory with modern apparatus and a well-decorated computer lab with sufficient pieces of computers, an internet connection and a multimedia projector exist in the college.
