In a since “Printmaking” is a language for the modern-artist who can reconstruct reality from his private experience which language encompasses a number of categories that described the process used: relief, intaglio, lithograph, offset monotype and monoprint. Department of printmaking established in 1948 as a Graphic Art Department. Now it is established as a well known Department of Printmaking, Faculty of Fine Art, Dhaka University. From the beginning of the establishment of Fine Art (1948), Mr. Shafiuddin Ahmed and Mr. Habibur Rahman were engaged as a teacher of this Department. Before that time, both of them were engaged as a teacher of Calcutta Govt. Art College. Later on, after coming back to Japan. Professor emeritus Mr. Mohammad kibria joined (1962) as a teacher in this Department. Before that, Mr. Mohammad Kibria was associated (1954-1961) as a teacher in Department of Drawing and Painting. Than Mr. Mahmudul Haque joined and associated as a teacher from 1969-2011.
