Welcome to the website of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Daffodil International University. I am delighted to convey to you that Innovations in information and communication technologies with traditional mass media are changing the way we live, work, play, and learn. Since, the journey of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) Department at this university in 2007, has been at the forefront of efforts to explore these social, cultural, rhetorical, and organizational processes as we are preparing our students to understand and be able to study and manage the media and communication revolution in society, education, politics, management, marketing, government and nongovernmental institutions.
Our regular BSS programs with 12 semesters and a regular MSS program of three semesters including a two years evening MSS combine an emphasis on communication theory and research methods along with new technologies including desktop publication, digital radio and television journalism, policy implications, and practical applications. Graduates will go on to positions of leadership and responsibility in media corporations, new business ventures, public relations department, government and nonprofit organizations, as well as academia and research.
Students with diverse educational and cultural backgrounds from across the country come together to complete our BSS and MSS programs that emphasize participation in seminars and symposia, internships, field research in organizations, special workshops, group research projects, e-learning, and independent study. The academic degrees are flexible enough to allow students a wide degree of latitude in designing their programs of study.
Our top-ranked faculty members are drawn from a wide range of academic disciplines and include distinguished scholars and researchers from different public universities, editors of leading newspapers, officers in prestigious national and international professional associations, and highly respected consultants to government and private industry. Faculty members work closely with students, often on exciting joint research projects.
Housed in its own Prince Plaza campus building at Sobhanbugh, Dhanmondhi at the center of capital city Dhaka, the department boasts state-of-the-art computing, online publishing, and multimedia classroom facilities.
