“The global demand for Pharmacy Graduates in the academic and research institutions, pharmaceutical industries, hospitals and other health related institutions is increasing in rapid pace at both home and aboard. Keeping these in mind the Department of Pharmacy was established in Pabna University of Science of Technology (PUST) in 2013.
The B. Pharm. Professional is a 5-year Program consisting of 10 semesters and the students require completing 200 credits. The purpose of introducing Pharmacy program in PUST is to introduce beginning Pharmacy students to the technology and scientific principles underlying the preparation of dosage forms and drug delivery systems and to their use in patient care. Through an integrated course curriculum students will gain an understanding of the interrelationships between physical pharmacy principles, biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics, dosage form design, product formulation, small-and large-scale product manufacture, pharmacology, mechanism of drug action, clinical pharmacology, community pharmacy, toxicology, pharmacy law, drug use management, pharmacotherapy, patient assessment & counseling, pharmaceutical dispensing and the clinical application of pharmaceuticals in patient care.
Pharmacy is the art and science of preparing and dispensing medications and the provision of drug and related information to the public. Pharmacy is basically a knowledge system which renders a health service by concerning itself with understanding drugs and their effects. The aim of this department is to produce skilled and efficient manpower to serve pharmaceutical companies, retail pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, community pharmacies and other government bodies related to health and research.”
