The Department of Music at the Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology within the Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts plays a vibrant role in the University’s mission to impart education for the development of art and culture in the society. Our programmes focus on the indigenous musical genres of Bengal such as the Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet and Classical. The curricula are designed to give students a diverse and broad-based knowledge in their specialism and will allow them to develop their musical skills, thinking and creativity.
The modules will cover the history of music and the richness of musical creations in different musical genres. Students will have the opportunity to study with well-known musicians of the country and perform in a variety of settings to showcase their musical talent. The faculty members of the department pay focused attention to the needs of the students and help to nurture their musical talent and passion for music.
The department resides in Kalma Campus, Savar where students can enjoy the natural and serene environment of the campus. There are acoustic musical studios for performance. The University provides transport facilities with own buses and students are also offered substantial scholarship and waivers in each semester and at the time of new admission.
