“Department of Mathematics and Statistics is one of the leading departments of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT). The department has been striving hard to impart quality education to the students in mathematical and statistical methodology in its theoretical, practical/applied, and scientific research aspects of modern age. Potential manpower equipped with mathematical and statistical skills and efficiency are severely demanded by insurances, banks, industries, trades and commercial organizations, etc. Such skilled and efficient manpower has the potentials to be a teacher, a researcher and the like. With this view Department of Mathematics and Statistics BUBT operates its function under the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
At present, the department has 25 faculty members and two of them are on study leave for higher studies in New Zealand and India. Our faculty members are involved in research activities and regularly publish their research papers in national and international journals. They have memberships in renowned academic associations and research organizations. In undergraduate and graduate levels our faculty members use computer program, software and statistical packages, e.g., SPSS, Stata, Minitab, R- Language, SAS , MATLAB, MAPLE, FOTRAN, C, C++, etc.
The faculty members of this department are very cordial and helpful and students get required facilities from them such as counseling, presentation tips, report preparation guidance, etc. The department organizes various seminars and workshops from time to time with the help of the qualified faculty members. Many students who completed M.Sc. in Mathematics from BUBT are now working in renowned organizations and different educational institutions, successfully.”
