“The Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Pabna University of Science & Technology (PUST), is one of the Engineering departments, which started offering students the Bachelor of Science program in civil engineering in the academic year of 2012-2013. Degree Program also includes- M.Sc Engg., M. Engg. in Structural, Transportation, Geotechnical, Environment, and Water Resource Engineering.
Civil engineering is one of the oldest professions in the world. It is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the man-made and naturally-built environment. Civil engineers are involved in planning, design, analysis and construction of buildings; transportation systems (highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, and ports); water distribution and wastewater collection systems; environmental management systems, and other related systems. The main objective of the Civil Engineering program is to provide Bangladesh with highly qualified civil engineers to meet the needs of the local and regional market. The program also provides research and community service geared to the benefit of the local and regional societies in particular, and the entire global society at large.
It is traditionally broken into several sub-disciplines including structural engineering, transportation engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, water resources engineering, materials engineering, earthquake engineering, wastewater engineering, coastal engineering, offshore engineering, control engineering, forensic engineering, municipal or urban engineering, facade engineering, architectural engineering, surveying and construction engineering.
