The Department of Chemistry at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) provides an outstanding environment for studies in Chemistry, is among the most research-active Departments in Bangladesh. The Department of Chemistry at CUET is well furnished with a modern research laboratory. The Department’s program of teaching and research spans the breadth of Chemistry. General areas covered include Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Industrial Chemistry. Specialized areas such as Environmental Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science and Corrosion Chemistry are also covered. With the growing need of the world, Pollution control, Environmental effect, Toxicity in the environment, Spectroscopy, Chromatography and Chemical process industries have been included in the course content. The sessional classes are based on the chemical analysis of materials. The Department has introduced postgraduate programme (M. Phil) in the year 2009. At present 10 M. Phil. students are doing their research work. The current faculty strength of this Department is 9, of which 2 professors, 4 assistant professors and the rest lecturers but majority of the faculty completed their doctoral degree from the various wings of Chemistry. The teachers are all well-trained and equipped with the wealth of modern knowledge in Chemistry. They are all committed of their noble profession. Our committed and enthusiastic staff makes the Department a wonderful environment in which to work and study.
