DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED LABORATORY SCIENCES
This department is committed to develop highly skilled manpower in Laboratory Sciences with appropriate scientific background as they can understand the purpose and theoretical basis of medical laboratory procedures to perform routine and specialized laboratory tests using modern equipment and operate/maintain laboratory equipment as well as to develop and ensure the standard and quality of Laboratory services and academic research activities in areas related to Medical Laboratory Sciences and Technologies. This department will provide adequate and necessary academic and practical training to develop qualified human resources with supervisory and managerial skills having appropriate knowledge and training in modern management and automation techniques. The programs offered by this department will help meet the requirements of a large number of Laboratory Technology experts in the Government as well as Non-Government Hospitals and in the country and abroad. The course curriculum of different programs was designed according to the needs of Laboratory Medicine at home and abroad. A group of expert faculties is devoted to run the programs offered by this department.
The departmental teachers are also involved in various research programs in the country. They also take part regularly in the National/ International Seminar/Symposium and workshops as the department feels that teaching, research, and extension work are the three most important responsibilities for its academic staff. Total credits for BSc in Laboratory Technology (Hons.) & MS in Applied Laboratory Sciences are 160 and 80 respectively. The Master of Science (MS) in Applied Laboratory Sciences in Laboratory Medicine is the most widely recognized professional credentials. The course is designed so that graduates can be competent enough to design any biomedical research, implement projects and planning decision create and apply research modalities to larger schemes set in large research projects. Several World class laboratory reagents will provide to the students for excellent laboratory and research facilities. They can also pursue a better career at the Universities, Diagnostic Laboratories, Hospitals & Advanced Research Laboratories in Bangladesh as well as abroad.”
