Department of Agro-processing has been running in this university with the vision to foster agro-processing education and research since 2007. Agro-processing refers to the transformation of products originated from agriculture into other value-added products. The academics and researchers of this department are devoting their efforts to apply post-harvest processing sciences i.g. Food and Nutritional Sciences, Food Processing Sciences etc. for the safe and convenient consumption of food. The agribusiness sector of Bangladesh covers the commercial production of and processing agricultural commodities (including crops, livestock, fisheries, and forestry). To take the advantages of expanding agribusiness and increasing employment opportunities in rural areas education and research in agro-processing would play an important role.
