DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY & CELL BIOLOGY
The Department of Biochemistry & Cell Biology was established in 2010 with Prof Liaquat Ali, an eminent biochemist of this country as its founder Head. The Dept involves both research and academic activities. Multidisciplinary knowledge like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Nutrition, Biostatistics, and Computer Science gather in this Department. Now the Department is conducting a 4 years BSc (Honors) and a two years MS courses. Majors have the opportunity through extensive coursework, Laboratories, Seminars, and several projects to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to enter the workforce or to go on with further graduate education leading to MS or Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry or a related discipline at home and abroad. The departmental teachers are also involved in various research programs in the country. They also take part regularly in the National/ International Seminar /Symposium and workshops as the department feels that teaching, research, and extension work are the three most important responsibilities for its academic staff. Total credits for BS in Biochemistry and Cell Biology amount of 160 credits. The Master of Science in Biochemistry and Master of Science in Cell Biology is the most widely recognized professional credentials. It is rapidly expanding cutting-edge scientific discipline with new discoveries and often life-saving products at a breathtaking pace. Biochemistry and Cell biology with this foundation in science, students continue with studies in the areas of pure science, lab science, regulatory affairs, and biotechnology business. The course is designed so that graduates can be competent enough to design any biological research; implement projects and planning decision create and apply research modalities to larger schemes set in large research projects. Several World-class laboratories and reagents of the world will provide to the student’s excellent laboratory and research facilities. They can also pursue a research career at the emerging National University in Bangladesh or Research Institute of the advanced world.
