Sampur Secondary School is one of the oldest and best schools in Bakergonj upazilla under Barisal district.It stands on the Biskhali river.The histrocial Sampur Secondary school was fonnded by Hirenro Kumar Roy Chowdhury in 1932.Inspite locating in a remote village,ten kilometers away from upazilla headquarters,the history of the school is very eventful.The school remained closed from 1950 to 1958.Then some social activists come froward under the leadership of Alhaj Abdur Razzak Howlader,to reviving the academic activies of the school.The school faced problems once again during our liberation war.As the freedom fighters used the school house as a camp,the Pak Army destroyed the school house by setting fire.The local people reconstructed it.The current school building was founded by facilities in 1995.For all that problems-dilapidated school building,surrunded by muddy roads,poverty stricken locality, affected by natural calamities-the school is going on with imparting quality education among about six hundred students.
