Abridged description ; The institution named ‘Shahid Zia College, Bagbari, Bogra’ was established in 1993 in the Village of Bagbari, the birth place of SHAHID PRESIDENT ZIAUR RAHMAN’ situated in 9 no. Noshipur UP under Gabtali Upazilla of Bogra district. The Village Bagbari is 16 kms to the east of Bogra Sadar, 25 kms to the north-west of Dhunat Upazilla, 26 kms to the south-west of Shariakandi & 18 kms to the south of Gabtali Upazilla. The great sensation of the people of this territory lies not only in the production of good crops in the fertile land of this region but also to do better something for the welfare of humanity is their inborn nature. As the great men are born to enlighten the people of the society through ages , so in order to make the people of this area well educated, this college is established through the directives and financial assistance of hon’ble Tareq Rahman, the eldest son of Shahid President Ziaur Rahman and through all out supervision and patronization of the then patron of learning natonal Parliamentarian Md. Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu. To admit the students in XI class in the department of Arts, Commerce & Science (Bengali, English, Civics, Economics, History, Islamic History, Social welfare, Sociology, Logic, Psychology, Arabic, Islamic studies, Accounting, Management, Finance and Commerce Geography, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics) was permitted in the academic session 1993-94 in the firm efficieny of the hon’ble founder President Md. Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu and hon’ble Principal Md. Abul Kalam Azad and gained appellation in Computer Operation & Secretarial Science of HSC (Business Management) faculty in the session of academic year 1995-96. The college was included in MPO in the month of July, 1994. Next, the college attained recommendation in Degree Pass Course (B.A, B.S.S, B.B.S & B.Sc) in the academic session 2001-02. At present, the number of students studying in this college is 1213. The college has recently prayed to the National University seeking permission to introduce Hons course and consequently a visiting team sent by the authority has already completed the inspection procedure. The procedure denotes that the admission to Hons with three subjects is expected to be started in the coming session. The college governed by a skilful Managing Committee is prospering day by day. Founding period: 21 April, 1993 Brief history : Bagbai is the birth place of Shahid President Ziaur Rahman. He or his family didn’t establish any institution after his name in this village during his life time. The commoners were trying to do something after his name after the death of President Ziaur Rahman. In the congenial political circumstances after 1990 onward, the common people of this area took initiative to establish a college and subscribed land property. The then reverend member of Parliament belonged to Bogra – 42, Gabtali -7, Md. Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu welcomed that entrepreneurship and founded this college applying his all out endeavour. The first donor in that connection was reverend Tareq Rahman, the eldest son of Shahid Zia. He has tried to develop the infrastructure of the college donating a large sum of money from his own fund and he would treat the institution as his own one. Hence, he is the founder of this college. The then education minister Barrister Md. Zamir Uddin Sarker and state minister of education Principal Yunus Khan visited this college and extended all sorts of assistance from his ministry. Thus, the founding flow of this college is goin on—–
