Noakhali Science and Technology University is commonly known as NSTU is a newly established public university in the coastal terrain Noakhali of Bangladesh. Noakhali University of Science and Technology located at Sonapur, 8 kilometers southwest of Maijdee, Noahkhali, Bangladesh. It is the 27th public university and 5th science and technology university in Bangladesh. When it founded, while in 2013, it places like the 10th public university (out of 38) and 2nd science and technology university in the national ranking. Its foundation stone was placed on 11 October 2003 and academic activities started on 22 June 2006.
Previous Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia laid the foundation stone of Noakhali Science and Technology University on 11 October 2003. Present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina takes the necessary steps to establish this university. On 15 July 2001, her government passed a law in the parliament.
Its construction work was formally initiated on 24 March 2005. Finally, it began its academic activities on 22 June 2006. It is the 5th of 12 such universities the government decided in 1997 to establish in the 12 former greater districts where there was no university. Introduce new technologies and developing the old ones is one of the research and development (R&D) objectives of Noakhali Science and Technology University.
