Khulna University (KU) is an educational establishment that is located at Sher-E-Bangla Road Khulna. Its Educational Institute Identification Number or EIIN, is 136592. On 18 April, 1991, it was first put into operation. The alternative name for Khulna University (KU) is খুলনা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় (কেইউ).
Khulna University or KU is the 9th public university in Bangladesh. It is located at Gollamari, Khulna, Bangladesh, by the river Moyur, beside the Khulna-Satkhira highway. The academic programs of KU started on 31 August 1991 with 80 students in 4 disciplines. Khulna University has 28 disciplines under 6 schools and one institute. It’s the only university in Bangladesh where student politics is not allowed. No session jam in academic activities. A big number of professors, associate professors, and assistant professors are working as a faculty member of different disciplines.
Many national and international research projects are on running. Student accommodation facility is very good. There are two halls for male and one hall for female students. Library and laboratory facility is also of good quality. Students and staff are provided with also transport facility. Overall students quality of this university is very satisfying. Graduates of this university (KU) are working all over the world with a lot of fame. Khulna is an administrative division as well as the third bug metropolitan city in Bangladesh. The Mongla Sea Port, the Bangladesh Naval Base, the Shipyard are in Khulna. Khulna is an industrial city, nice environment and famous for the Sundarbans.
In 1974, the Kudrat-e-Khuda Commission beginning the importance of establishing a public university in Khulna Division in its final report. The government finalized the programme of founding a university at Khulna on 4 January 1987 and the Khulna University Act was passed in the Bangladesh National Parliament in July 1990. Distinctive law named (The Khulna University Act, 1990) passed in the parliament empowers the university. The university has begun its formal inauguration of academic activities on 25 November 1991.
