Gonoshasthaya Samaj Vittik Medical College is an educational establishment that is located at Dhaka. On 14 July, 1998, it was first put into operation.
A contemporary educational institution, Gonoshasthaya Institute of Health Sciences is accredited by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council and the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh (BMDC). Under the leadership of this Institute, Gonoshasthaya Samajvittik Medical College was established. This institution received Ministry of Health & Family Welfare approval in 1989.
Later on, the Gonoshasthaya Samajvittik Medical College’s curricula were approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh and the Ministry of Education.
With the assistance of the World Health Organization (WHO), Gonoshasthaya Samajvittik Medical College has been listed in the AVICENNA Directories of Medicine at the University of Copenhagen (world directory of medical school).
The four large academic hospitals that belong to Gonoshasthaya Samajvittik Medical College allow the students to become familiar with the health issues that poor people in urban and rural areas face. The first hospital is located in Savar, the second in Dhanmondi, the third in Gazipur, and the fourth recently began operations at Kashinathpur near Pabna. In Gaibandha, a new, top-notch hospital has been built. There are more than 17 primary health centers spread throughout Bangladesh.
