The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Jahangirnagar University is one of the leading CSE department in Bangladesh. Since its inception in 1991, the Department is playing a vital role in developing skilled ICT professional and researchers. The Department selects very good quality national and international students in each academic year. It has overwhelming dominance in ICT-based higher education and research and undertakes very high-quality teaching and research of international standard. It offers academic programs for BSc (Hons.), MSc, MPhil, and Ph.D. degrees. The Department has very good quality faculty members who have MSc and Ph.D. degrees from abroad, skilled technical officers, office staff and technician. In the past few years, CSE department has developed a very good reputation in innovative ICT-based research and excellence in teaching. Our mission is to discover ICT-based new ideas, promote knowledge and apply them to the welfare of the nation. We dedicate us every effort to establish a knowledge-based academic environment where our skilled faculty members offer their best output and students are encouraged to show their best performance.
Our Department conducts state-of-the-art research in almost all of the current areas of Computer Science and Engineering. Active research areas include Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, Computer Vision, Software Engineering, E-commerce, Database Systems, Data Mining, Data Warehousing, Multimedia Systems, Computer Networks, Internet Technologies, Computer Graphics, Algorithms, Signal Processing, Mobile Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks, Robotics, Embedded Systems, Parallel Processing, Machine Translation, Automatic Program Construction, and so on. The Department has taken steps to continue research to develop new ideas using ICT-based techniques for the social and economic development of the country.
