DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY NUTRITION
Community Nutrition (CN) department was first introduced under the Public Health Division in Bangladesh Institute of Health Sciences (BIHS) which was the Apex Institute of Health Care Development Project (HCDP) and its associated hospital named as BIHS Hospital. Public Health disciplines have been given one of the highest priorities in BIHS. Presently, CN department has been transferred under the Public Health Division in Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS). The aim of the department is to provide a comprehensive education in community nutrition for global health with the choice of specializing in a number of topics and in a range of contexts.
At present six full-time qualified faculties have been working, among them 01 Professor, 01 Associate Professor, 01 Assistant Professor and 03 Sr. Lecturers. A total of 11 students have been passed from this department from 2008-2012. Currently, CN department has 6 MPhil students and 01 MPH student. However, in MPhil study program, 50% of students were from South-East Asian countries.
